THE PROBLEM

When the King Pin hole in a steering axle becomes elongated it is necessary to either repair the axle or replace it.  The cost of replacement is from several hundred to over a thousand dollars.  Ordering a new axle can take from ten days to over two weeks.

The other alternative of taking the axle to a machine shop can from two to ten days.  The lack of accuracy is sometimes as serious problem.  Using either of these methods can cause a major downtime problem.

THE SOLUTION

With the Steering Axle Sleeving System, developed by THE AXLE SURGEONS, the steering axle can be bored and sleeved on the truck and back on the road the same day.

HOW IT WORKS

Boring of the axle hole is done on center and at the proper angle to insure proper alignment and press fit of the sleeve.  The sleeve is constructed of 4130 seamless aircraft steel tubing.  The sleeve is then hand reamed to receive the king pin with a tolerance of less than .0005.  If the bottom of the axle has been damaged by thrust bearing wear it is face ground.
